Common flat roof problems and how they're fixed
Ponding, blistering and leaks around outlets — what causes them and the fixes that last.
Ponding water
Water sitting for days after rain means the falls are inadequate or outlets are blocked. Long-term ponding speeds up membrane failure.
Blisters and cracks
Common on older felt roofs as they age and trapped moisture expands. Small areas can be repaired; widespread blistering usually means replacement.
Leaks at upstands and roof lights
Junctions are the weak points. Good detailing with the right membrane or GRP finish is what keeps them watertight.
Choosing a replacement
EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and torch-on felt each have strengths. We'll recommend one based on how the roof is used.
